TAO Times #33: Relative Strength

Large names are noticing TAO, TAO is leaving Root, & Kraken staking

TAO Times #33

What’s up everyone, I am back from a week of much need R&R… and boy am I glad. These past 10 days have been quite a rollercoaster ride in global markets, however, TAO has stood very strong, and alpha tokens have outperformed 99% of the broader altcoin market…

In fact, alpha tokens have performed so well that it’s captured the interest of a lot of other prominent opinion leaders…

TLDR;

  • Subnets showing signs of maturation, TAO rotating into alpha pools

  • Forbes picks up on Bittensor’s momentum

  • Former Bitcoin maxis recognizing the value proposition of Bittensor

Here is what happened during the week of April 6th ↘️

Subnet Leaderboard

Since resuming, it appears that the subnet leaderboard is close to the same as when I dropped off. I believe that this is demonstrating signs of maturation for the top 10, as they have simultaneously been dominating narrative mindshare, especially Rayon Labs and their associated subnets (64, 56, & 19).

However, as the TAO from root begins to trickle into alpha token pools more aggressively, I agree with Ash and believe that there could potentially be a rotation of TAO into smaller marketcap alpha tokens, which is what I will be tracking alongside the declining proportion of TAO staked to root, as presented below.

Highlights of the Week

⚡️ A recent Forbes piece highlighted Bittensor as a leading decentralized AI protocol. The article states that through its merit-based subnet architecture and Dynamic TAO incentives, Bittensor democratizes AI development and rewards useful machine learning contributions, reshaping how value and innovation are distributed in the AI economy. Seth Bloomberg as also mentioned in the article!

⚡️ TAO.com has launched its first subnet, SN81 (Patrol), aimed at preventing crypto hacks by collecting and analyzing real-time security data, starting with the Bittensor blockchain. Designed to be a ‘decentralized Palantir’, Patrol builds a relationship graph of wallet activity to aid investigations, with plans to expand to broader data sources and offer a public API.

⚡️ Macrocosmos launched its Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling integration of SN1 (Apex) and SN13 (Data Universe) APIs into Claude and Cursor for decentralized web search, HuggingFace lookups, and social media sentiment analysis. The demo is impressive, check it out here.

⚡️ Kraken now supports TAO staking with up to 12% APR. It currently looks like we are in the early stages of seeing many more institutional custody and staking partners offer support for TAO and alpha tokens.

⚡️ Renowned Bitcoiner Fred Krueger, @dotkrueger, has launched SN90, named Brain (GitHub repo here), which will focus on prediction market verification using human and AI oracles to settle markets within 24 hours. Fred has a track record of successful entrepreneurial ventures and a large platform to spread the TAO gospel.
